Hey Old Cityzens!

THIS. IS. IT!

The CrossFit Open starts THIS THURSDAY! If you haven’t signed up already, what are you waiting for??!

It’s the road to the Fittest Exerciser on EARTH!

Testing your level of fitness across broad times and modial domains in weightlifting and gymnastics and..

.. okay, they might not be testing *that* sort of fitness. Save it for after the Open, 5 weeks from now.

Until then, I’ve got a lot to talk about this week.

First off, we’ve got a benchmark workout coming up this week – “Elizabeth” on Thursday. I’ll post the previous dates we completed this so you can look back and compare.

Next, check out a few podcasts that have already been posted. I’m referring to Episode 6 where Sean talks with David and Katie about the CrossFit Open.

If that’s not enough to convince you, here’s the (previously recorded) LIVE Facebook video of Sean and Katie talking MORE about the CrossFit Open.

And since you can’t get enough of Katie, here’s last week’s podcast where Sean talks with Katie about mindfulness and meditation. Grab a cup of soothing tea and settle in for a lengthy discussion.

And on Monday, February 19th, Sean and David will be LIVE on Facebook at 5pm to discuss the Muscle Up workshop on Saturday, February 24th from 1-3pm.

There will be another podcast dropping this Wednesday.

And on Thursday, keep an eye on CrossFit Games website and Facebook page for the announcement of Open workout 18.1. What do you think it will be? 8 min AMRAP of burpees? Something with dumbbells? Or will they bust out muscle ups on week one?? Dave Castro tends to put out ambiguous ‘hints’ each year on his Instagram page that mean absolutely nothing. You can try to follow along and guess – or not!

Okay.. I said I had a lot to cover and this is starting to read like Sean and Katie’s podcast! Let’s hope mine (coming in March! Oh boy!!) isn’t this long…

.. let’s see whats coming up this week for the workouts.

Monday – Deadlifts, yoooo!! If you’re not excited to pick up heavy shit on Monday, you better check your pulse. We’re also going to be rowing and ‘swinging. A posterior strong day to start the week.

Tuesday
– Double strength – split jerk technique work and heavy C&J. Followed by a quick Open workout from years past with the same flavor.

Wednesday – Long day, partner day. Including some movements that might show up in the Open – wall balls, burpees, pull ups. Good chance to refine your technique.

Thursday
– More pause squats for strength, and the girl WOD “Elizabeth”.

Friday – CrossFit Open workout 18.1

Saturday – Getting in some snatches for strength. This can only mean that 18.1 will include snatches *prognosticating*

Sunday
– Another good Hero workout, and Gainz club will be focusing on clean and jerks.

Quite the clean and jerk week! All the more to get you ready for the Old City Oly Meet March 31st. Woot!!

Let’s have another great week folks!
