10 Strict Handstand push ups

*Couplets and triplets make up most of our workouts. This is what I’d call a ‘classic CrossFit’ triplet. If you did you daily reading back on June 3rd, you would’ve seen the theoretical template for CrossFit’s programming, and you would’ve known that this workout contains a monostructural metabolic conditioning (aka ‘cardio’), weight lifting, and gymnastics movement. You could argue that we do a lot of cardio that isn’t specific to a rower, bike, jump rope, or running – as we’re doing today – and I’ll give the example of Monday’s workout with hang snatches and burpees. I bet that got your heart rate up, eh?

Back to today’s workout, this is also a task priority workout. Within each round, we’re asking you to run fast, move heavy weights (dumbbells) quickly, and move your inverted body up and down multiple times. You might find 1-2 of these movements challenging, and that’s awesome. We *want* this workouts to challenge you. I was hesitant to say we want them to scare you, but a little bit of fear never hurt anybody. I want it push you outside of your comfort zone a little bit. Challenge yourself to not stop on the run, use heavier dumbbells, or try a slightly harder scale for the handstand push ups. The strict variety popped up in the Open workouts this year, so you shouldn’t be surprised if/when they show up in our programming, and again during the Open in October.
