“Murph”
For time”
1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 air squats
1 mile run

**In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.

*Memorial Day has become synonymous with this workout, but it can be done any time of the year. What we should also remember is that two others SEALs were killed alongside Murph – Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class (SEAL) Danny Dietz, and Sonar Technician 2nd Class (SEAL) Matthew Axelson. A Chinook helicopter that was sent to extract Murphy, Dietz, Axelson, and Marcus Luttrell was also shot down, killing 8 additional SEALs and 8 Army Night Stalkers. It was one of the worst single-day US Forces death toll since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom.

These gentleman gave all serving their country. We might have fun doing these workouts, but we do them in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we have.

Please remember that this weekend and as much as possible. They were sons, brothers, and husbands. Take the time to read about them in the links included.
