There is a ‘time cap’ on this in the sense that you have 30 minutes to work this complex and build up to the heaviest weight you can do all 6 movements unbroken. No cycling of the movements is allowed, so not as a cluster, hang cluster, cluster. Naw. There is a distinct pause in between each movement, usually in the rack position or hang. Even if you need to regrip the bar, do it in the hang position because that last squat clean is touch-n-go.
Now you might say ‘but..but.. I won’t be able to do as much weight if I can’t drop the bar after each thruster.’ Who’s to say you can’t? This isn’t just a workout to see how physically strong you are, but how mentally strong you are to hold onto the bar.. and follow instructions such as no cycling, no regripping on the ground, etc. This is one of those rare times where we’ll ask you to work on cycling a heavy barbell.
