Roommate alert!  Yup.  We’ve done a couple couples and now we’re doing a couple roommates.  Braeden and Matt are both native Texans from the Dallas area who moved to DC in January as a part of a program called the Bill Archer Fellowship Program.  Graduating this past May, both Braeden and Matt decided to make DC their new home!

Braeden works for an oil company as a pseudo-intern (his internship ended in April, but they’re keeping him on for a bit).  Braeden is also a HUGE baseball fan (Rangers specifically); so much so, in fact, that he wrote his thesis on the Nicaraguan political history of baseball.  The picture below is of Braeden sledding down the side of a volcano in Nicaragua while doing “research” for the aforementioned thesis.  It’s also one of the coolest pictures I have ever seen.

And then there’s Matt.

It’s surprising that a man of Matt’s worldly charm and exquisite taste in tux-rentals needs an introduction, but then again, how many times has James Bond had to introduce himself?

When he’s not busy being the most interesting man on the couch, Matt is a contractor at the Department of State where he works as a Grant Specialist with the Middle East Partnership Initiative. He loves the Middle East and plans to travel there sometime in the next year. To hone his skills, he’s taken a number of arabic classes in college and is conversationally fluent! Also in college, he practiced Krav Maga (so don’t try and jump him) and he played rugby. When he’s not working here in DC, he is busy preparing himself for football season. He is a crazy Dallas Cowboys fan.

Hot dang!  Now I understand how Matt can command the attention of the three ladies on the couch.

I’m more than thrilled that you guys decided to join Old City CrossFit.  Growing up in San Antonio, Erin and I agree that DC needs more Texans!  Thanks for bringing your Lone Stars to our Old City!
