Why is a Public Health microbiologist specializing in Emerging Infectious Diseases walking around a creek without shoes on?  I’m not sure either, which means you’ll have to learn more about Alle (pronounced Al-lee, short for Alexandra) and decide for yourself…

Alle_Taylor

Originally from Washington State, Alle came to the east coast for college where she ran cross country and continued running 5Ks until about a year ago. Alle started CrossFit in April 2012 because after all those miles and miles of running she still wasn’t seeing any results and realized she had zero strength.  She’s seen above mid hike of Old Rag Mountain, but her more natural state is doing marathons…of Netflix.  That’s right.  Give this sappy microbiologist a predictable rom-com or anything soap-y and she’s good for hours.

Outside of her occasional dalliance with nature, and her love for Netflix, Alle received a graduate degree in Public Health Microbiology and Emerging Infectious Diseases (a mouthful, I know) and now works for the American Society for Microbiology.

Alle uses her microbiology knowledge to work with scientists in resource-limited countries, specifically those in the Middle East and North Africa. She does mentoring programs and other professional development, laboratory strengthening, and bio-safety/bio-security work. Alle loves what she does for work, specifically how science transcends politics and really brings people together around a common problem, after all, pathogens don’t respect international borders.

Basically, if the world were dodgeball, Alle would be the guy on the left destroying the poor pathogentlemen on the right.

We couldn’t be more excited to have you as a Founding Father and future dodgeball partner!  Welcome to the family, Alle!
