Hey Old Cityzens!

The cancellation of H Street Festival this past Saturday was a bummer as it turned out to be a really nice weekend. Not to worry, though, as it has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 13th. I can’t say for sure what our plans are with Haymaker, so keep an eye out for any updates on any partnership with them. In the meantime, go out to eat this week. Spend some money along H Street as I’m sure the local businesses were planning on a big day on Saturday.

Switching gears, I wanted to highlight an article from the New York Times that I posted on our Community Page on Facebook. It’s about a marathon runner out to break the marathon world record this past weekend in Berlin. It talks about his humble beginnings and training, but moreso about his mindset and mental training. We might not be able to run a marathon, or even 5 miles, but we can use that same mental strength to tackle a hard workout, or even going about our day. Check it out!

Programming wise, we’ve got our last two weeks of the month ahead of us. You’ll see a few ‘repeated’ strength movements – double strength, EMOM cluster of movements – as well as our girl WOD for the month this week.

Lastly, we have our Potluck Picnic in the Park on Sunday, September 23rd from 1-4pm. We’ll be in the NE corner of Stanton Park, so bring some games, food, and good weather, and hang out with your fellow Old Cityzens!

Enough of the chitchat, let’s see what’s coming up this week…

Monday – Double strength right off the bat – thrusters and Pendlay rows. A little dumbbell cashout to follow.

Tuesday
– One of our two long workouts comes early, and we’ve got a good one with running, cleans, and push ups. Simple yet effective.

Wednesday – Save your legs for some front squats followed by a single kettlebell couplet.

Thursday – Our second long workout has you doing 4 movements. Wanted to do some ring muscle ups? Here’s your chance.

Friday – Snatch complex is our Olympic movement of the week, and we’ll close out the work week with “Nancy”.

Saturday – Bench press for 3 followed by a pull/push rowing/dumbbell workout.

Sunday – Open gym + gainz club + Hero WOD + Yoga
